What is Buddybox?
BuddyBox is a self-care subscription box with substance. Designed to counter the pressures we face in modern life.
Packed full of thoughtful, self-helpful and self-caring, mood-lifting treats, the BuddyBox comforts, delights and gives you that warm, ‘I’ve been cared for’ feeling inside.
In other words – it’s a hug in a box…
“Highly recommend if you’re looking to improve your self-care.” – @teacher_missg
We’re able to support those affected by depression and work with 152 schools and 4 home educators this academic year at no cost to them with our mental health education programme – because of BuddyBox.
Give Buddybox as a gift! What we love about BuddyBox is how often it’s gifted; to those going through the mill of it, in consolation, for birthdays or Christmas, good lucks, to those in hospital, as thank yous, to those we care about but can’t be with – no matter what the reason might be.
At checkout you are given the opportunity to leave a personalised note which we’ll pop onto a notecard which is placed into the box along with the other contents.
They’re very well-received too, look:
“My daughter has had a really tough time yesterday and I didn’t want to send flowers again so tried this: great decision. She sounded the happiest I’ve heard her for months. Thanks Blurt.”
“We purchased one of these for a friend. It was a great gift x”
“My husband was diagnosed with cancer and a friend has sent him one of these it arrived today and it’s fabulous.”
“A friend told me today “honestly without you I would not be where I am now”. It blew me away. I had bought her a buddy box last year as a surprise after she’d admitted she was struggling.”
Meet the Buddybox Team
Jayne is the BuddyBox lead, coordinating every aspect from curation to logistics.
Immy creates all the box artwork, curates the contents with Jayne and designs bespoke products.
Dom is our chief box-packer and packs all the boxes with a whole lotta love and care.
Naomi brainstorms and then writes the terrific content for our zines.
Wends gets us all organised ready for packing by affixing all of the labels where they need to be.
Your Buddybox is designed, curated, and packed by a small team.
Putting together a BuddyBox is fun and complex! There are a lot of points for consideration (theme-specific, budget-fitting, lead-times, and physically-dimensionally-fitting in the box) and waaay more products that don’t make the cut than do.
In recent times we’ve developed our own range of unique products to include – meaning that there really isn’t another self-care subscription around quite like ours.
We source vegan and cruelty-free products and endeavor to support independent businesses. It’s important to us that your BuddyBox feels like a carefully and consciously crafted pick-me-up.
We all love working together to create something that’s so thoughtful, self-helpful, and self-caring. At each and every step of the process, there’s a whole lotta love, care and consideration poured into it. Even better too, knowing that this makes it possible for all of our other vital work to take place.
A whole lotta love,
The Blurt Team <3
A Daily Dollop of Kindness
It’s not always easy to be kind to ourselves. Life gets busy and we rarely put ourselves first.
Each dollop is contributed by one of our Kindfulness Club members. Sometimes it’s a lyric or a quote. It might be a thought, a spark, a reminder, or a piece of advice that’s never been forgotten. Every single day, we’re reminded of how wise, kind, and thoughtful our Kindfulness Club members are. Every single day our warm and fuzzy reserves get a 10am top-up. Every single day we’re reminded that we’re not alone. Not only that, but every subscription comes with two exclusive digital products per month, to encourage us to sprinkle self-kindness throughout each day.
"I'm in love with this month's #BlurtBuddyBox. So glad for my subscription, which has gone from being an indulgent treat to becoming an essential for my mental wellbeing during these last few crazy, insecure and deeply worrying months."
"It's uncanny how timely my monthly #blurtbuddybox arrives and is filled with appropriate goodies."
"This little box of goodies breathed a wave of peace in my life, and helped me realise that I haven’t been taking care of myself as well as I should have."
What is in the BuddyBox?
Each BuddyBox contains at least 5 quality products hand-picked to nourish, inspire, and encourage self-care. The contents of the BuddyBox vary from month to month and remain a closely guarded secret. (The surprise is very much part of the experience). All the items included in the box are intended to make you feel good: helping you de-stress, find calm, feel pampered, relax, get creative, or simply have fun.
When will my BuddyBox be received?
When you make your purchase, you are ordering a box for the following month. So if you place an order in January (whether it’s the 1st or the 31st), you will receive your BuddyBox in February. Boxes are shipped from Blurt HQ on the 9th of the month or the first working day after. We send boxes via Royal Mail 1st or 2nd class (depending on which you choose at checkout), so will take a few days to arrive within the UK. If you’re out and the postman tries to deliver your BuddyBox, they should leave a ‘sorry you were out’ card. That said, there have been instances where this hasn’t happened and so if you’re concerned with the whereabouts of your BuddyBox, please do contact your local sorting office to see if they’re holding it for you. They hold parcels for a maximum of 30 days. International orders are shipped via Air Mail. You’ll receive an email from us to let you know when your order has been fulfilled. Please note: We pack our BuddyBoxes between the 1st and 8th of the month. We are unable to change order details during that time. If you want to make a change prior to dispatch, we must be notified no later than the last day of the previous month.
I’d like to send a BuddyBox to a friend anonymously, is that possible?
It is. At checkout, there is a field where you can leave a personalised message. Leave that field empty, and the box will be sent anonymously as a surprise.
Are BuddyBoxes suitable for men?
Absolutely! There are lots of male subscribers who enjoy our boxes. Do you remember when there was an uproar when Kinder Eggs started marking the eggs with pink for a girl and blue for a boy? Well…that’s how we feel about BuddyBox. Wellbeing, self-care, creativity and timeout to relax aren’t gender-specific activities. Neither are any of the products in BuddyBox.
How suitable are BuddyBoxes for Vegans?
Completely. All of the products are vegan and cruelty-free.
Are BuddyBoxes suitable to be sent to a psychiatric hospital?
We can’t guarantee that there won’t be sharp objects included in BuddyBox and for this reason, BuddyBox would be unsuitable for dispatch to a psychiatric hospital. We do though, have Build Your Own BuddyBox Care Package that's a fully customisable BuddyBox: https://www.blurtitout.org/product/build-your-own-buddybox/
Do I have to re-order every month?
You will only have to re-order every month if you initially purchased a One-Off BuddyBox. The rolling monthly, quarterly, 6-monthly, and annual subscription will renew automatically to ensure you never miss a box.
So, you ship abroad?
We’re still really sorry if you’re in the non-UK EU and you want to buy something from our shop, due to Brexit complications and the possibility that you’d have to pay an import duty, we’ve suspended any new orders for the time being.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept payment by debit card, credit card and Paypal.
When will payment be taken for BuddyBox?
For one-off purchases and monthly subscriptions, payment will be taken when you sign-up. If you signed up for a subscription, payment will then be charged again a month/3 months/6 months/12 months later, dependent on your subscription.
How do I change my bank details?
It’s easy. Just log into your account. From there, you can choose to change your payment method and also to change your address.
How do I change the delivery address details?
Please email [email protected] before the 1st of the month and we’ll get that sorted for you. For example, if you placed an order during December and want to change details for that order, we would need to receive the changes no later than December 31st. You can change the shipping address on your subscription via your account, but you will still need to email us to update the shipping address on your most recent renewal order. Again, we need to receive the changes by the end of the month.
Can I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time, however, you will still receive the box(es) that you’ve already paid for. Just log into your account, select “VIEW” on your subscription and click “CANCEL”. This will cancel your upcoming renewal. If your latest renewal payment has already been taken, you will still receive the upcoming box(es).
I have a question which isn’t covered here, how can I contact you?
Please email [email protected]
Royal Mail are advising us that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is very likely to be delays to both UK and International shipments. Currently, this most affects Australia, Canada, China, Europe as a whole, Japan, New Zealand and the US, however the ongoing pandemic is leading to delays worldwide and the situation is changing all the time. Please allow extra time for your delivery. We will be allowing an extra week for UK deliveries (on top of the usual delivery time), and a month for International Deliveries before we are able to issue a refund for a missing parcel. We’re really grateful for your patience and understanding. You can get more information here.
